About iView Companion

What is this?

iView Companion is an unofficial proof-of-concept demo designed to help you discover what to watch on ABC iView. It combines natural language conversation with smart search to surface shows and films that match what you're looking for.

How it works

• •Daily catalogue crawl: We fetch the public metadata from ABC iView each day to keep our database current.
• •Hybrid search: Your questions are translated into semantic embeddings and keyword queries to find relevant shows across multiple dimensions (title, synopsis, genre, etc).
• •LLM recommendations: An AI model reads your preferences and the matching shows, then offers thoughtful recommendations with explanations.

What it is NOT

• ✗Not official: This is not made by, endorsed by, or affiliated with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
• ✗Not a video host: We never store, stream, or proxy video content. All playback happens on the official ABC iView website.
• ✗Not affiliated with ABC: This is a proof-of-concept experiment by independent developers.
